Page of Wands
Essence
The Page of Wands is the Messenger of Fire—the young emissary of creative impulse who arrives bearing news of inspiration, adventure, and the first stirring of a passion not yet fully understood. He is the student of the flame, eager and untempered, holding the wand as one holds a torch in unfamiliar darkness.
Upright
When the Page of Wands appears upright, the Querent receives a message of new beginnings in the realm of action, creativity, and enterprise. The youthful figure stands in a barren landscape, his plumed cap and tunic bright with the colours of fire, gazing at his wand with an expression of fascination and intent. He is not yet the master of the flame—he is its student, its admirer, its first apprentice. The Page announces the arrival of an exciting idea, an invitation to a new venture, or a communication that ignites the imagination. There may be a journey proposed, a creative project conceived, or a fresh enthusiasm that enters the Querent's life with the energy of a young fire. The counsel is to receive this spark with openness and curiosity. The Page does not promise mastery—he promises the beginning of the pursuit of mastery. Explore. Experiment. Allow the enthusiasm its full expression without demanding that it immediately produce results. The fire is young and must be tended, not forced.
Reversed
Reversed, the Page of Wands warns of scattered enthusiasm, messages delayed or misunderstood, and the frustration of creative impulses that cannot find their outlet. The Page stamps his foot—impatient, petulant, easily bored. A venture is announced but never begun. News arrives but proves unreliable. The Querent may be flitting from one passion to the next without committing to any, or may be suppressing creative urges out of practicality until the fire gutters. There is a lack of direction here, a spark without kindling.
